In this article, you will learn how to import and existing document, as well as how to create a blank document from scratch.
Importing and Creating Documents
Select the Document Management icon from the menu to create a document:
Then, click the Create a Document button in the upper right corner of your screen:
From there, you will be asked to provide some details about your document. Document Title is a required field:
If you’d like to associate your document with a particular PlanetBids module(s), you can select that below the document title. Optionally associating this document with one or more modules will make it easier to locate and access this document for users of those modules:
If you associate your document with specific modules, you will then be able to choose more specific information, depending on what modules you are associating the document with:
When you are ready, click Next in the upper right corner to proceed:
You will then be taken to a screen to select how you will load your document into the site:
You can create a new blank document, use a template, or import a Word document. We will discuss templates in more detail in a separate article.
To import a Word document, click Import and select the file you want to use. Your document is then loaded into the document viewer window. If you had chosen Go to create a new document, a blank document would be shown in the document viewer window. Documents that are loaded will be in the Draft state:
Your document is automatically saved for you. You can now make any editing or formatting changes, publish, export, delete, duplicate, or save the document as a template:
Once you are finished, Close your document:
